Kari Haanstad, MBA, CFA ®, joined the Modus Advisors team in 2017.
Kari grew up in Minnesota. She received her BA in Economics from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL and her MBA in Finance and Accounting from the Booth School of Business at The University of Chicago. Up until joining Modus Advisors, Kari had spent her entire career at large financial institutions. Most recently, she spent 13 years at JPMorgan and its predecessors managing portfolios of hedge funds on behalf of both the Bank and its clients. At the time she left JPMorgan, Kari was a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager within JPMorgan Alternative Asset Management.
Between her employment at JPMorgan and Modus, Kari was on a career break to start a family. During this time, she also enjoyed advocating for children in the foster care system and managing her personal portfolio. She and her husband, Geoff, decided to move back and make Excelsior their permanent home, and they couldn’t be happier to be back in this beautiful state! Outside the office, you can find Kari cheering on her young son at whatever sport he is trying out, on a golf course, or on or near some body of water.
