I don’t know what you were doing on Sunday, but, like me, you probably weren’t running a full 26.2 mile marathon AFTER biking 112 miles AFTER swimming 2.4 miles in open water. And, you probably didn’t do this in 55 degree temps with 20 mph winds and never-ending pouring rain. But this is exactly what Modus Advisors’ Tad and Maggie did in the 20th edition of IRONMAN Wisconsin. We simply could not be prouder of our friends and colleagues!
Saying they both killed it is an understatement! There were more than 1,300 participants (including a handful of professional triathletes). Maggie finished FIRST out of the hundreds of women in the amateur division. She had a phenomenal race, finishing in 10 hours and 48 minutes – even beating a half a dozen of male and female pros! She finished the race by running the marathon in 3 hours and 24 minutes!! By winning her age group she qualified for the IRONMAN World Championship to be held in Kona, Hawaii in October of 2023. Needless to say, she accepted the invitation and the planning for this is already underway.
Twenty years after his last IRONMAN, Tad had a spectacular race, too, despite the literal headwinds. He was happy with his swim, couldn’t wait to get off his bike, and ground through the marathon, finishing in the dark and with an incredible time of 14 hours 27 minutes. This placed him 4th of the 25+ participants in his age bracket!
What I find equally astounding about their accomplishments is that they did all their training outside of Modus hours. Through their months of training, they were consistently the first ones in the office (after having trained for hours already!) As they were wrapping up their days, we’d often hear them discussing when they’d meet up for their evening workout.
Finally, we can’t forget the $350,000 (and counting) they have raised for four deserving charities. If you would like to add to the tally, you can donate through www.25meters.com.
Congratulations to our big-hearted, big-muscled, big-lunged superhumans!
